HEAR FROM GOD

Right at the heart of the School for Disciples is a passionate belief that Christians in the 21st century need to hear from God by a thorough grasp of the Bible, through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and by understanding the times in which we live.

We hope the School will be a place where your minds are thoroughly engaged as you learn how to grapple with the Bible. You’ll be looking at some of the ‘mega themes’ that we find all the way through the Bible’s different books, as well as learning the skills of how to handle and begin to apply specific texts.

We also believe that God speaks today through the various gifts of the Spirit that He gives for the equipping of the church. By the end of the year we hope you would be growing in your confidence of listening to God and receiving His ‘supernatural’ gifts.

Jesus also challenged those who sought to understand him, to look at the ‘signs of the times’  and this is an incredibly pertinent challenge in an increasingly ‘post Christian’ society. We will be setting aside time to consider the messages of our culture(s) and weigh them in the light of our faith, as well as look with the Globe Café  at how we approach cross-cultural evangelism.

We believe that all disciples are called to be both followers of Jesus and leading other people to him, so within the School for Disciples we will be making time for you to join the joint Growing Leaders programme our churches run. This will enable you to think both about your calling, character, competence and about embracing the cost of leadership.
